SAYREVILLE MARCHING UNIT

On Friday Night, November 16, 2007, in National

Championship Competition, the band took Fifth Place in

the country of all bands in their group, regardless of

competition division. The Marching Unit performed

very well taking Third Place in both music and visual

performance captions in an extremely tough field of

competitors. The band was able to beat all other bands

in their division making Sayreville the Top 1A Band in

the country!

This has been a tremendous season for the Marching

Unit. The band won 6 out of 9 competitions, took two

(2) Second Place finishes and finished Fifth in the

country against many bands not in the Marching Unit's

competition division. The Marching Unit obtained the

perfect season going undefeated in the competition

division. During their incredible winning streak the band

won the Central Jersey Championship, the NJ State

Championship and the Northern States Regional Championship.

Finally, the Marching Unit brought home a new

school record score for the Marching Unit earning a

92.375.

meeting. Two weeks after the conclusion of the

The Sayreville Choir has been selected to perform at Walt Disney World's Candlelight Procession in Epcot Center on December 2, 2007.  The choir will perform with high school students from across the country to perform music with full orchestra to accompany the telling of the Christmas Story.  The celebrity narrator for the performance will be Emmy-Award winning actor Dennis Franz (NYPD Blue, Hill Street Blues).  This marks the fourth time that the choir has been selected through the audition process.  The Sayreville Choir has previously appeared at the Candlelight Procession with Miss America, Ben Vereen and Haley Joel Osment.

Sayreville NHS Donates to BIC

A great big THANK YOU goes out to the Sayreville War Memorial High School National Honor Society and advisor, Sarah Rodis-Magaw, who presented Mary Ann Gordon from BIC (Brain Injured Children) a check for $2,000. This represents the profit from the National Honor Society Spaghetti Dinner in April. It is our largest donation ever and a tremendous accomplishment for these young people. Yet another testament to the Sayreville students and staff for their community support!
